DOUALA, Cameroon, November 30, 2005 - Cellicium, the premier provider of USSD Browsing solutions, and Orange Cameroon today announced the successful development and launch of a unique self-care service that enables pre-paid customers to extend the validity period of credits on the verge of expiration.

After recognizing the overwhelming customer response to Cellicium's USSD self-care applications in other Orange markets, Orange Cameroon turned to Cellicium with the innovative concept of empowering pre-paid customers to extend credit validity through their handsets.

"Cellicium's development team had the proven technical knowledge and experience needed for this project," said Orange Cameroon Products and Service Manager Yves Happi. "They delivered a fast, user-friendly and reliable application within a short time period of time."

The service is executed when the user enters the simple USSD string < #147# > on his handset. His credit validity is then automatically extended and seconds later he receives an SMS confirmation. The USSD request is free, but the cost of extension is 1000 FCFA (1.52 EUR) which provides an additional 30-day validity of credit. Pre-paid credit validity can be extended for a maximum of six months.

Orange Cameroon has also successfully deployed Cellicium's turnkey interactive USSD services. In addition to the classic balance inquiry and pre-paid top-up, Orange Cameroon's pre-paid customers now benefit from Cellicium's "Call Me Back" service, enabling users lacking credit to send a free SMS message to contacts requesting to be called back. Cellicium's "Peer-to-Peer Credit Transfer" service has also been launched allowing pre-paid users to transfer credit to other accounts with as little as 250 FCFA (0.38 EUR).

"In the first three months of service, one customer out of two used our new USSD services and credit transfer usage almost doubled," confirmed Mr. Happi. "USSD's ability to deliver a user-friendly and consistent experience to our customers has been key to this success."

As with all of Cellicium's USSD browsing applications, these services are accessible through almost all legacy handsets without any modifications or specific SIM cards.
